AAFCPAs Provides Tax and Business Guidance at Cannabis Industry Conferences

AAFCPAs’ Cannabis Practice leaders David McManus, CPA, CGMA and Joshua England, LLM, Esq. have been invited to present at two industry conferences in August 2023.

AICPA & CIMA Cannabis Industry Conference

David McManus, CPA, CGMA is pleased to present CAN2315, Taxes: Part 1 at the AICPA & CIMA Cannabis Industry Conference being held August 14 through 16 live and online at The Westin Copley Place, Boston, Massachusetts.

Participants will enjoy an engaging discussion on how a panel of tax professionals built their Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) position from client data. The panel will also cover various perspectives on tax return presentation and risk management when taking various tax positions. This session is Wednesday, August 16 from 8:30 AM to 9:45 AM EDT.

The Maine Cannabis Convention/Homegrown Trade Show

David McManus, CPA, CGMA and Joshua England, LLM, Esq. have been invited to speak at the Maine Cannabis Convention/Homegrown Trade Show being held at the Augusta Civic Center in Augusta, Maine. The event will take place on Saturday, August 12 and Sunday, August 13 from 10 AM to 3 PM.

McManus and England are recognized for providing specialized advice and counsel to cannabis clients on a variety of business transactions including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, licensing of intellectual property and brands, and issuance of stock options. In this session, Business Transactions for Growth and Exit, they share insight into some of the most popular business transactions in the space along with guidance on accounting for cannabis transactions and considerations for structuring transactions in the most tax efficient manner.
