Nonprofits May Now File Public Disclosure Documents Online in MA, NY
AAFCPAs would like to make clients aware that new online portals in the states of Massachusetts and New York are available for charities to prepare and submit their statutorily required filings. These online portals allow charities and nonprofit organizations to streamline annual disclosures.
AG Healey Launches First-Ever Online Portal for Charities Filings in Massachusetts
Massachusetts law requires all public charities operating in the state to register and file annual reports with the Attorney General’s Non-Profit Organizations/Public Charities Division. Historically, this has been a paper-based filing. The new portal will accept initial registration filings from organizations registering for the first time, as well as charities submitting their annual Form PC financial reports.
All filers are encouraged to use the AGO’s new Charity Portal. Processing times for both Registrations and Annual Form PC Filings submitted through the Portal will likely be shorter than processing times for filings received as hard copies.
Organizations may still paper file their annual filing with the AGO.
For more details and training materials please visit the Attorney General’s website.
Online Annual Filing with the New York State Charities Bureau
As of September 19, 2022, all annual filings with the New York State Charities Bureau must be submitted online.
The online application in New York state uses electronic signature and payment processes and reduces errors and incomplete annual submissions. It also significantly reduces the time for posting filings in the Bureau’s online registry. The NYS Charities Bureau offers more information on what is needed to complete the filings successfully.
