Making a Difference with our 10% Back to Nonprofits Commitment
As our clients know, AAFCPAs commits to donate 10 percent of our net income annually back to nonprofits. Our giving comes in many forms, including donations of time, talent, and treasure.
This commitment, and our close relationship with nonprofits, has a tremendously positive impact on the employees and culture of AAFCPAs. Here are some of our recent community impact initiatives.
Summer Outing Raffle
During the firm’s annual summer outing, June 20th, team members came together to participate in fundraising efforts including a raffle of eight themed gift baskets, generating $2,075 in donations. Proceeds from the raffles plus a 100 percent match from AAFCPAs’ Charitable Foundation supports eight nonprofit beneficiaries, each selected by our volunteers, who curated the raffle baskets:
- Boys and Girls Club of Lowell
- Boys and Girls Clubs of Dorchester
- Brain Injury Association of America
- East Boston Social Centers
- Jordan Porco Foundation
- League School for Autism, Inc.
- Pathways for Children, Inc.
- Pine Street Inn
Annual Days of Service
AAFCPAs offers one paid day of service to each team member annually to provide exposure to social responsibility and to contribute to our clients’ missions. More than 25 of AAFCPAs’ team members used their paid day this summer as part of the 11th Annual CPA Day of Service, organized in collaboration with the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MassCPAs). The service days were also accompanied by a monetary donation to each organization from AAFCPAs’ Charitable Foundation.
AAFCPAs @ Community Servings
Food Sorting and Packaging
Every week, Community Servings, an AAFCPAs client, prepares more than 20,000 medically tailored meals for individuals and families across Massachusetts who have been affected by HIV/AIDS, cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and more. AAFCPAs team members were excited to volunteer to prepare meals and pack meal bags in their kitchen through multiple shifts on June 14.
AAFCPAs @ Catie’s Closet
Clothing Sorting
Catie’s Closet provides children in need with life-changing access to clothing and basic necessities, so they may thrive in school and in life. AAFCPAs team members were thrilled to volunteer their time at the organization’s distribution center to sort, organize, and process donations of clothing and toiletries on July 9. AAFCPAs partner Katie Belanger, CPA also volunteers as a member of the organization’s Board of Directors.
AAFCPAs @ Boston Harbor Now
Moakley Park Cleanup
Boston Harbor Now, an AAFCPAs client, is working to reestablish Boston as one of the world’s truly great coastal cities through partnerships with public agencies, communities, and private and non-profit partners. AAFCPAs team members were proud to donate several hours to picking up litter and debris from Moakley Park on July 16.
AAFCPAs @ Brookview House
Shelter Beautification
Brookview House, an AAFCPAs client, provides the security of housing to unhoused women and children as well as programs to assist teens experiencing homelessness.
In collaboration with Boston Cityscapes, three enthusiastic AAFCPAs volunteers recently stepped in to assist with the packaging of Mother’s Day gift bags, flowers, and cards with children. The day’s activities were focused on Brookview’s house in Dorchester, Boston, which provides short-term housing for families.
Gratitude for AAFCPAs Team Members who took the time to volunteer at Brookview and make a real difference in the lives of so many.
“Giving our team the chance to give back isn’t just the right thing to do; it’s essential. It connects us to where we live and work, enriches our lives, and reinforces the values that our company stands for. By helping others, we’re not just making a difference in the community—we’re also building a strong, compassionate team.”
Carla McCall, CPA, CGMA, Managing Partner at AAFCPAs.
With a firm belief that business can be a conduit for social change, AAFCPAs provides this paid day of service, along with monetary donations, cash and sponsorship contributions, and employee matching gifts as part of its 10% Back to Nonprofits Program.
