Michael is a leader in AAFCPAs’ Healthcare and Community & Economic Development Practices, specializing in providing audit, tax, and advisory solutions to: community health centers, human & social services organizations, behavioral health providers, community development finance institutions (CDFIs), as well as community development corporations (CDCs) and their affordable housing & commercial development projects. His experience includes serving sophisticated nonprofits subject to Uniform Guidance/Single Audit and Government Auditing Standards, as well as those with state and program-specific compliance requirements.
Michael has extensive experience serving Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) clients and advising on: 340B pharmacy program requirements, best practices for reconciliation & analysis of statistical and programmatic data, tracking and monitoring risk-based contracts, maximizing reimbursements, and guidance on healthcare reform.
In the Community & Economic Development sector, Michael has significant experience working with various types of debt financing including tax-exempt bonds, tax credit driven programs, specialized bond programs, and traditional financing. His experience with these financing programs includes his work with borrower clients, as well as a wide variety of lenders, tax credit investors, tax credit allocates, and other financial intermediaries. He is a specialist with the requirements of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funding, Low-Income Housing, New Markets and Federal and State Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credits. He provides advisory services to limited partnerships/limited liability companies from deal formation through exits at the end of tax credit compliance periods.
