AAFCPAs Medicare FQHC PPS Training
Are you on target to implement the new Medicare Prospective Payment System?
AAFCPAs, in collaboration with the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers, will present Medicare FQHC PPS Training on March 26, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the DoubleTree by Hilton Boston – Westborough, MA.
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 modified how payment is made for Medicare services furnished at Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). On October 1, 2014, FQHCs began transitioning to a prospective payment system (PPS) in which Medicare payment is made based on a national rate which is adjusted based on the location of where the services are furnished.
All FQHCs are expected to fully transition to the new Medicare PPS by December 31, 2015. Successful implementation goes beyond ascertaining costs but also has implications for your intake, clinical and billing operations. The session will be presented by AAFCPAs and other health centers that have gone through this process will be sharing their experiences.
This live training will provide an overview of:
- PPS FQHC Coverage and Billing Guidelines
- FQHS PPS Payment Rates
- Geographic Adjustment Factor
- New/Initial Patient Adjustment
- G Codes
- Multiple Same Day Visits
- Coinsurance and Preventive Services
- Key insights from FQHCs who have successfully transitioned
This event is presented exclusively for MassLeague members. Additionally, AAFCPAs’ Rhode Island clients are also welcome to attend.
Additionally, a second event will be held in the afternoon… this morning training will be followed by an afternoon CFO Roundtable (1:30 – 4:00), which will include a Strategic Planning Session to review a challenging report, commissioned by the Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation of Massachusetts, on health center readiness for the coming of “Accountable Care.” In addition, the MassLeague will provide updates on activities of the HSN Workgroup, MassHealth, the Primary Care Payment Reform Initiative (PCPRI), and the current status of both Connector and MassHealth Enrollment.
