Consulting Controller
April is a member of AAFCPAs’ Outsourced Accounting & Fractional CFO (OAFC) practice, providing outsourced, cloud-based finance & accounting support for diverse nonprofits and private foundations.
April helps new clients improve their financial processes and update their infrastructure and systems to meet their organizational objectives and adapt to changing conditions. She advises on how to set up, modernize, and integrate accounting systems, and how to enhance business process performance with a focus on efficiency, effectiveness, and internal control.
As a key member of the clients’ finance function, April manages support staff and makes sure that work is distributed and delivered to the client on time and correctly. She oversees critical aspects of transactional accounting, including AR/AP, check disbursements, and the reconciliation process to the general ledger. April also handles processing and documentation for grant tracking, revenue recognition, departmental/divisional reporting, or other areas of need. She helps in making annual budgets and monitors cash flow. She reviews and approves monthly and annual financial reports and benchmarking metrics for Executive Management and Boards of Directors, which helps in strategic decision making.
Apart from her work in outsourced accounting, April loves to travel. She once took part in a community of volunteer travelers, where she donated her time at a veterinary clinic in Guatemala and a kindergarten in Fiji. She saw the world in a responsible way, learned from different cultures and helped communities that needed support.
