Camila Gonzalez Whalen, CPA
Director, Tax
Camila is a leader in AAFCPAs’ Private Client Services practice, working extensively with high-net-worth individuals, their families, and closely held businesses. This includes providing tax planning & compliance solutions to business owners and entrepreneurs, as well as estates, trusts, and private foundations.
Camila provides a critical analysis of the tax planning links between the business and its owners, which illuminates opportunities to reduce overall taxes. From the business perspective, she considers how to reduce taxes and increase available cash, including entity selection, accelerated tax depreciation when acquiring new real estate or capital improvements, tax credits and incentives or accounting method planning. For personal tax planning, she identifies ways to maximize available tax deductions, reviews the tax efficiency of investments, and considers estate planning opportunities as well as trusts and other wealth preservation vehicles, that insulate clients’ assets and protect specific financial goals. Camila coordinates with clients’ advisors, family-office teams, and AAFCPAs’ multi-disciplinary team of CPAs, Wealth Advisors, and Tax Consulting Attorneys to provide a holistic view for life goal planning. She has a keen understanding of the dynamics of multi-generation wealth.
Camila keeps pace with the increasing complexities of changing tax laws and regulations, and she remains vigilant through extensive research and real-time monitoring.
She is a native of Puerto Rico and speaks Spanish and English.
