Chris Bango
Manager
Chris has extensive experience providing audit and consulting solutions for a diverse range of nonprofits including Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), skilled nursing facilities, and multi-service human and social services providers. He works to ensure clients feel confident in their compliance of all applicable standards, including Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), Government Auditing Standards, Uniform Guidance/Single Audit requirements, and state-specific regulations, such as the Massachusetts Uniform Financial Report (UFR).
In this capacity, Chris leads assurance planning and fieldwork, taking full responsibility for client deadlines and ensuring needs are met with minimal disruptions to operations. He collaborates closely with tax, audit, and consulting teams to deliver seamless, comprehensive service. Chris’s deep understanding of his clients’ business operations and internal control environments allows him to assess risks accurately and provide meaningful recommendations.
Chris is a key player in team member development, serving as a performance manager and mentor. He also conducts in-house training on a range of topics, including FQHC auditing, as well as ongoing technical training and new team member onboarding. As a member of the firm’s Automation Center of Excellence, Chris helps clients enhance efficiency through technology—improving internal workflows and helping clients leverage automation to elevate their workforce.
With a focus on healthcare, Chris provides strategic guidance on 340B compliance for in-house and contract pharmacies, revenue cycle management, and reserve policy formation. He works to minimize denials, assisting health centers with PACE programs and optimizing third-party reimbursements (insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid). His expertise extends to arts and cultural organizations along with foundations, where he offers insights into asset valuation and the management of restricted net assets. He also advises clients on UPMIFA compliance for endowments as well as unrelated business income taxation (UBIT) for activities such as gift shop revenue or space rentals.
Chris is an active alumnus at Worcester State, where he participates in events and as a past panel speaker. He is actively pursuing his CPA credential. Outside of work, he enjoys taking walks with his Beagle, Miri. Chris is fluent in both Albanian and English.
