Erica Lage
Manager
Erica possesses extensive experience in financial statement auditing and consulting, offering specialized guidance to charter schools, charter management organizations, private educational institutions, and related nonprofit organizations helping shape schools, students & teachers.
Erica advises schools who must maintain compliance with Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (DESE) standards. She guides clients through requirements related to record keeping, related party disclosures, reporting, board governance, procurement, teachers’ retirement systems, and surplus calculations. She provides guidance on existing and emerging accounting standards, including evaluating impact and ensuring efficient and effective implementation. She also supports business office leaders in meeting requirements related to complex endowments and alternative investments.
Erica is a career coach and mentor in AAFCPAs’ Professional Accounting Development (PAD) program focused on providing new professionals with the tools to develop their own career management skills including independence, organization & time management, teamwork, and effective communication. She leads internal trainings on diverse topics, including analytical procedures and remote auditing guidelines. She is an active volunteer with AAFCPAs’ nonprofit clients and organizes AAFCPAs’ annual blanket drive for regional animal shelters.
Erica appreciates AAFCPAs’ “Work from Anywhere” flexible work policy. She, her husband, and their two dogs Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm recently relocated to the Tampa Bay area. In her spare time, Erica enjoys unleashing her creativity with her Cricut machine.
