Katie Belanger, CPA

Katie holds a leading position in the firm’s Human & Social Services practice and is well-acknowledged for her expertise in delivering comprehensive audit, tax, and financial as well as operational consulting solutions to the nonprofit provider sector. Her sophisticated clients have diverse funding, including government contracts, philanthropic grants, and corporate and private donations, all of which fund a variety of complex program offerings, including complex program offerings, including early education and childcare, mental health support, mentoring, basic needs assistance, residential services, day programs, and specialized services for individuals on the autism spectrum and with other developmental disabilities.
Katie is an active associate member of the Massachusetts’ Providers’ Council, and a guest speaker for the Council’s constituents. She has presented guidance on the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Uniform Financial Statement (UFR) preparation and how to navigate and mitigate common reporting errors in the state’s burdensome compliance filing. She also has extensive expertise advising clients on implications related to applicable and new accounting standards, including Leases and Uniform Guidance related to federal contract award recipients.
Katie leverages her objective perspective from the audit process to advise clients on opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness. She provides best practice recommendations on operational and internal control systems and processes to help clients mitigate fraud risks and gain operational efficiencies.
Katie joined AAFCPAs in 2005 as an intern and was promoted to Partner in 2020. She is an alumna of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce/Simmons School of Management 2013-2014 Women’s Leadership Program and a 2014 recipient of the MassCPAs’ Annual Women to Watch Awards. She continues to be recognized for making an outstanding contribution to the accounting profession, to her community and place of employment, and to the development of women as leaders. When not shining at the firm, Katie may be found on an adventure with her family or exploring new avenues for self-care, like a Spartan Race.
