Kimoy Phillpotts, MBA
Manager
Kimoy is a manager responsible for overseeing the execution of financial statement audits for diverse nonprofits including charter schools and Charter Management Organizations (CMOs), multiservice human and social service and behavioral health providers, Community Development Financial Institutions Funds (CDFI), daycare, Community Development Corporations (CDCs) and affordable housing developers.
Kimoy has experience with audits in accordance with Generally Accepted Auditing Standards, nonprofit audits conforming to Uniform Guidance/Single Audit and Government Auditing Standards, as well as those with Massachusetts Uniform Financial Statement (UFR) filing requirements. Her CDC and affordable housing experience has given her extensive exposure to HUD requirements including REAC filings, waterfall cashflow analysis, cost certification, and tenant eligibility testing. Kimoy also has experience auditing tax credit-based financing used widely in the community development industry including New Markets Tax Credits, Low-Income Housing tax credits, and projects that combine tax credits with various levels of debt and rental assistance subsidies.
She has experience ensuring an efficient audit process for clients, reviewing and analyzing financial statements, board minutes, accounting policies and procedures, and internal controls as appropriate to gain a comprehensive understanding of operations. She works to understand expectations and adheres to communication preferences to ensure minimal disruption to client management teams.
Kimoy is a valued contributor to firm initiatives including serving as an internal trainer on single audit requirements and as a PADD Navigator, dedicated to supporting professional advancement for younger staff at AAFCPAs. She provides training on career management skills including independence, organization and time management, teamwork, and communication. She is also a regular volunteer with AAFCPAs’ Day of Service programs. Kimoy is currently earning her CPA, expected in 2025.
