Tyler is a member of AAFCPAs’ Outsourced Accounting & Fractional CFO practice, providing cloud-based outsourced accounting solutions for privately-held businesses. He serves diverse companies, including recreational and medical cannabis dispensaries and cultivation facilities, construction contractors, and emerging bio-technology manufacturers/distributors.
Tyler understands the many nuances of accounting for cannabis businesses, from pre-license to fully operational. He provides guidance on accounting infrastructure set-up, and leverages industry-leading, cloud-based solutions to optimize efficiency in executing transactional processes. He knows the myriad of federal, state, and host-community compliance & reporting requirements, and the complexities of financing and inventory accounting. He assists clients in establishing processes to value inventory and performs year-end inventory valuations.
Tyler helps clients right-size their finance function by supervising junior accountants in the execution of transactional accounting activities. This includes oversight of accounts payable & cash disbursements, payroll processing, invoicing & tracking of accounts receivable, processing of credit card transactions, journal entry recording, general ledger account reconciliations & maintenance of subsidiary records, and monthly closing procedures.
Tyler works collaboratively with AAFCPAs’ multi-disciplinary team, as appropriate, to ensure the full depth of the firm’s resources are leveraged to meet clients’ evolving needs. He coordinates with clients’ tax accountants and auditors, and keeps records organized and readily available for examination.
Prior to joining AAFCPAs, Tyler gained 5 years’ experience with a leading contract research organization where he gained valuable exposure helping prepare for an acquisition by a public company. He has passed all 4 parts of the Uniform CPA Examination, and expects to complete the higher education credit requirement in 2021.
