AAFCPAs (Westborough, Boston, Wellesley, Waltham) is pleased to announce that Katie Belanger, CPA, Partner, has been appointed and agrees to serve on the Board of Directors at Catie’s Closet, a youth services provider in Dracut, MA. Katie will serve as a fiduciary, providing strategic operational and financial guidance to help Catie’s Closet improve school attendance, emotional well-being, grade progression and ultimately, graduation rates for vulnerable populations.
“When I learned about the mission of Catie’s Closet, I was inspired to provide my support and share my expertise,” said Katie. “Children in poverty already have a difficult time seeing beyond their current circumstances and into a brighter future. Catie’s Closet helps build confidence, which leads to better school performance, and longer-term engagement.”
Catie’s Closet has a creative and innovative solution to improve school attendance and graduation rates, as well as the mental, emotional, and physical health of students facing poverty, homelessness, and other crises by providing free, in-school access to clothing and basic necessities and uniting with community partners to meet students’ other immediate needs.
Katie will help advance the mission of Catie’s Closet by offering operational & financial expertise to ensure a solid financial position and prudent use of assets. She will also ensure the organization remains in compliance with rules and regulations, including its own internal governance documents.
Katie has 15+ years of experience advising diverse nonprofits, including multi-service human & social services providers. She is especially knowledgeable about how government funders use compliance filings, including the Massachusetts Uniform Financial Report (UFR), when analyzing an organization’s service delivery. She advises clients on the impact of changing regulations, interpreting program results, and the importance of cost allocation methodologies on outcomes. Katie is known for seeing problems and opportunities differently and confidently introduces new ideas that solve client challenges and save precious time and resources.
