AAFCPAs #DunkTankChallenge Raises $1500 for Immunotherapy Research
Posted on
AAFCPAs Team members cooled off on a hot summer day participating in the firm’s second annual #DunkTankChallenge. Volunteers, including Partners & Managers, took turns in the hot seats while team members donated money for the chance to strike the targets. The dunk tanks provided entertainment for all at the firm’s annual Summer Outing, while allowing us to provide a very meaningful gift to charity.
Proceeds Donated to Help Advance Immunotherapy Research
The proceeds raised from this year’s dunk tank will be donated to the Cancer Research Institute (CRI), an organization dedicated exclusively to advancing immunotherapy to treat, control, and cure all cancers. This organization was selected as this year’s beneficiary by a dedicated team member battling cancer.
At only 11 years old, this AAF’er was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. He has experienced both the ups of remission and the downs of recurrence over the years. He is acutely familiar with traditional treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation but is hopeful with the options immunotherapy offers as an alternative. Cancer immunotherapy uses the power of the body’s own immune system to prevent, control, and eliminate cancer.
He selected CRI as the beneficiary because of their commitment to advancing immunotherapy, combined with exemplary marks from GuideStar and Charity Navigator. 88 Cents of every dollar spent goes to programs.
Our employees donated $770 during this year’s #DunkTankChallenge, combined with a match of $770 from AAFCPAs’ Charitable Foundation.
CRI funds scientific studies that give patients like our colleague new options and hope. We are honored to have this opportunity to support our colleague and friend in his battle to get back to health.
