Ethics Symposium: Crisis, Burnout, and the Effect on Ethics – How has COVID Infected Your Ethics?
AAFCPAs’ Jeffrey Mead, CPA, CGMA and Olga Yasinnik, MBA, CPA will again lead FEI-Boston’s annual 4-hour Ethics Symposium, May 13th, with a focus this year on Crisis, Burnout, and the Effect on Ethics. Jeff and Olga will be joined at this virtual educational event by guest speaker Jennifer H. Elder, entrepreneur, AICPA instructor, and author of Faster Disaster Recovery.
In this session, Jeff, Olga, and Jennifer will lead attendees in an exploration of the effects of both crisis and burnout on ethical decision-making. We will define the stressors, pressures, and biases that can lead good people to make less than optimal choices. We will discuss ways to offset the pressures and ways to reduce stress on ourselves and on our team. Finally, you will learn how to recognize when an individual or an organization is heading in the wrong direction and how to stop sliding down the slippery slope. We will discuss and analyze recent ethical issues to identify the warning signs and determine what could have been done differently.

- Select methods for reducing stress, supporting your coworkers, and ensuring compliance
- Recognize the warnings signs of a potential ethical failure
