AAF Sponsors MNN Nonprofit Awareness Day

On Monday June 9, AAF was a proud sponsor of Nonprofit Awareness Day held at the Massachusetts State House.

The day was orchestrated by the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network and according to MNN CEO Rick Jakious “Nonprofit Awareness Day is a special holiday that gives us a chance to recognize the essential role nonprofits play in strengthening the Commonwealth and honor the best of the best work being done by in the nonprofit sector through the Excellence Awards.”

State Treasurer Steve Grossman and Senate President Therese Murray joined hundreds of nonprofit and business leaders, as well as other elected officials, to recognize the contribution that the nonprofit sector makes to the quality of life across Massachusetts. The day was orchestrated by the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network and according to MNN CEO Rick Jakious “Nonprofit Awareness Day is a special holiday that gives us a chance to recognize the essential role nonprofits play in strengthening the Commonwealth and honor the best of the best work being done by in the nonprofit sector through the Excellence Awards.”

A number of AAF clients including The Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy, Catholic Charities, Whittier Street Health Center, and Roca, Inc. were Excellence Award finalists. Each impressive finalist was recognized at the event and was selected from a record 209 nominations.

The awards, presented by MNN, were given to nonprofit professionals and organizations from every subsector across the state for innovative, creative, and effective work being done throughout the Commonwealth.”

The Excellence in Leadership award was presented by nonprofit thought leader and AAF Partner Robin Kelley to Deb Samuels, president of Crossroads for Kids in Duxbury.

Deb told the audience that like many nonprofit leaders, her career was a labor of love: “We think about our jobs and the people we serve morning, noon and night. We don’t stop thinking about them until we go to bed. And even then, we dream about them!”
