Overview

John provides assurance and advisory services to Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), multiservice human and social service organizations, behavioral health providers, Community Development Corporations (CDCs), and affordable housing developers. His work centers on helping mission-driven organizations navigate complex reporting, compliance, and regulatory requirements while addressing the operational and funding considerations unique to their environments.

John has extensive experience performing audits in accordance with Generally Accepted Auditing Standards, Uniform Guidance/Single Audit, Government Auditing Standards, and Massachusetts Uniform Financial Statement (UFR) requirements. As a member of AAFCPAs’ Community & Economic Development practice, he works with organizations operating in highly regulated environments and navigating diverse funding, reporting, and stakeholder requirements.

He advises clients on matters involving HUD compliance, REAC filings, cost certifications, tenant eligibility testing, waterfall cash flow analysis, and other considerations unique to affordable housing and community development organizations. He also brings experience auditing tax credit-financed projects, including low-income housing tax credits, new markets tax credits, and developments supported by layered financing structures. For CDFIs, he has particular experience with lending activities and allowance methodologies following the implementation of CECL.

Working closely with finance and leadership teams, John helps clients address audit, compliance, and reporting considerations while providing practical insight into financial operations and internal processes. Clients value his communication style, responsiveness, and ability to address issues efficiently while keeping engagements moving forward.

John is a valued contributor to firm culture initiatives, including AAFCPAs’ Inclusion and Belonging Committee, and has helped deliver internal training programs for both the firm’s Healthcare and Community & Economic Development practices, with a particular focus on planning, compliance, and CDFI assurance topics. When not serving clients, he is likely entertaining his bearded dragon, Rango, or giving golf his best shot.
