AAFCPAs is proud to announce that Chris Bango, Audit Manager, has been honored with the esteemed, partner-nominated Joel Aronson Character Award. This annual award recognizes team members who exemplify the integrity, dedication, and generosity of Joel Aronson, Founder of AAF Wealth Management.
The award celebrates individuals who demonstrate compassion, selflessness, and a steadfast commitment to supporting communities in need. Chris’ selection reflects his dedication to his clients, his thoughtful mentorship of colleagues, and his commitment to helping organizations and communities thrive.
Chris’s colleagues describe him as “the definition of high character and everything we look for in a professional.” His impact on clients is profound—“he has an amazing impact on our clients,” and peers note, “I receive countless accolades for his approach to client service.” Over the years, Chris has built a reputation for putting the firm, staff, and clients first. “He emulates so many of the amazing qualities that Joel Aronson instilled in me and so many others,” one colleague shared, underscoring his commitment to excellence and mentorship.
Chris prides himself on coaching younger staff, serving as both mentor and trainer, and “has a strong history of building solid relationships with so many of our team members.” His team-first attitude shines through: “He is always willing to step in and help out, whether it is a job he is assigned to or a job for which another person needs assistance.” Those who have coached him say, “watching him grow as a professional has been nothing short of amazing,” and they admire how “he continues to find ways to lift the bar on how to teach, train, and be a person that others look up to.”

Beyond his client responsibilities and role as a performance manager, Chris consistently volunteers for firm initiatives—“whether it be teaching training, being a DAS implementation champion, or involvement in the BITC automation projects, he is always willing to take on new challenges.” His colleagues agree: Chris embodies the qualities of a trusted leader, mentor, and collaborator, making a lasting impact on the firm and everyone who works with him.
An audit leader for mission‑driven organizations, including federally qualified health centers, skilled nursing and long-term care facilities, and multi-service human and social services providers, Chris guides boards and management through evolving standards, risk, and governance—advancing compliance, resilience, and impact. He delivers coordinated counsel across finance and operations, aligning strategy, process, and technology to help organizations thrive sustainably.
“Chris’ dedication, integrity, and thoughtful leadership exemplify the values celebrated by the Joel Aronson Character Award,” said Carla McCall, CPA, CGMA, Managing Partner of AAFCPAs. “His contributions to clients, colleagues, and the community serve as a model for all of us, and we are proud to recognize his achievements.”
